August 20 - We had just one goal today to have Eric catch a keeper fluke. Eric, Chris, Audrey and Rachel fish with us 4 or 5 times a year and Eric has caught plenty of sea bass and stripers, but a keeper fluke has been elusive for him. Today, Audrey caught our first keeper at 4 lbs. Then Chris added a 3 pounder and while he was winding his in, Eric's rod doubled over. Eric hooked a true LBI doormat fluke, weighing in at 11 lbs. 9 oz. Eric’s doormat now leads the Beach n Boat fishing tournament fluke division. Oh, he also added another 5 pounder before we went home. Mission accomplished!

We had frequent double headers, but with a ton of throwbacks. Weeded through them and ended with 40 sea bass and Jacob’s nice keeper cod for the afternoon bonus fish.

LBI Weather Limits Nice Groups Trip
Bad Weather Limits A Nice Illinois Groups Trip
June 8 - Had Ed, Sheila, Karl and Martha out for a quick trip, which was confined to Barnegat Bay due to mother natures 30 mph Southerly winds. The group is from Illinois and was here for a wedding in Lancaster. So despite the bad forecast they wanted to give it a shot. We started off trying to jig blues. We had only 2 bites and that was it. Then we tried fluking behind the dike, but we only caught a couple shorts. Wish we could've gotten these very nice folks offshore to the sea bass grounds. Maybe next time!

7 Nice Blue Fish In Barnegat Inlet
8 Nice Sized Blue Fish But Stripers Not Here Yet
May 24 – Today we had a fun trip with Eric and his Dad Chris. We ran into a school of feeding bluefish, just outside the inlet. Very quickly we caught 8 nice sized blue fish. Instead of continuing to hammer away at the blues the boys chose to pursue stripers. We gave it a try. Had two knockdown trolling spoons, but never connected with any stripers. It was a great day fishing with the boys despite the lack of striped bass.
Big Blues Back In Barnegat Inlet
The Big Blues Are Back In Barnegat Inlet
May 23 - Headed out this morning with Kack, Andrew and Joe. We were greeted by a 20 kts. North/Northeast wind and we made the call to abort the mission. Forecast sounded better for the afternoon, so 2 of the 3 boys came back and off we went. We took a beautiful ocean ride up to Seaside, looking for stripers. The trip was uneventful. We headed back towards home and were greeted by a hungry frenzy of blues just outside of Barnegat Inlet. The boys caught a fish with every cast and were arm weary within 45 minutes and we called it a trip.
Opening Day LBI Fluke Season

Boys boated 20 plus fish with Eric landing the largest around 4 lbs. with 2 keepers total.

Barnegat Light Bluefish Slaughter Is Still On
May 15 - Fished In Barnegat Inlet, right at the lighthouse, with Kev and several of his buddies on Friday night. The slaughter blue fishing is still on very close to home. Got up early this morning and put a hurtin' on them again. In mid-morning we took out Eric, Audrey and young Rachael. Well, they almost stopped biting. We managed to boat 3 and lost another 3 or 4. Kev went back out with several of his buddies this afternoon and he reports the slaughter is back on! We are looking forward to a successful catching season. Hope you can join us.

Barnegat Inlet Full Of Tackle Busting Blues
May 9 - Had Alyssa, Mike and Stephen out this afternoon in a dense fog shrouded Barnegat Inlet. Trip started off slow with only 4 fish, but after dropping our bad luck at the dock, we picked up Kev to help us turn the trip around. We headed back out and now the inlet tide was running fast and it was game on. In no time, the group had put 18 more nice size bluefish in the box. When we finally headed back to the dock we all had sore arms and hands after battling these tackle busting blues!
Feisty Barnegat Light Bluefish
15 Feisty Bluefish Tire Young Fishermen
May 9 - Had 7 year old AJ, 6 year old Pierce and their dad Andrew out for a quick trip in the foggy in Barnegat Bay. Within minutes of the dock it was game on with feisty bluefish. The boys had big smiles and tired arms as we called it a trip.

Picked Up 3 Keeper Blackfish
April 26 - Went out this morning with Kev, Brian and Cullen. Tried a couple of our favorite spots. Only one had life. We picked up 3 keeper blackfish and maybe 10 throwbacks. Too bad blackfish season closes on Wednesday. Catching is still better than sitting on a couch.

2015 LBI Catching Season Begins
April 25 - Finally, after about three weeks, the spring maintenance of the Kev n’ Ash is done. Kevin, Ashley, Dan and I headed out to see if there is any life in the Atlantic. And so we finally begin the 2015 catching season.

On behalf of myself, Kev, Ash, Jen, Joseph and Kaylee, thank you for sailing with us in 2014. It was one of our more successful seasons, but more important we all had fun catching. Three Nice LBI Blackfish Boated
Three Blackfish Keepers On Cold But Calm LBI Trip
November 29 – Not a good today. Dave and Janet braved the stinky weather. We made several drops and caught 3 keepers and fifteen or so shorts. A very soft scratchy bite. Luckily it was flat calm, but it was cold! This may have been the last trip of 2014 season. Stay tuned. Maybe the weather will change for the better. Let’s hope.
7 Blackfish Boated On LBI Opening Day36 Inch Striped Bass Boated At Barnegat Light
Cold Windy Tough Barnegat Light Fishing Day
November 22 – It was cold it was windy and fishing quite frankly stunk. Mike, Theresa, Diane, Don and James fished with us, but didn't catch with us. One short bass, while trolling for Mike and that was it. Tried blackfishing, but it was no better. Well, guess we were due for a tough one. And we got it today.
7 Blackfish Boated On LBI Opening Day36 Inch Striped Bass Boated At Barnegat Light
7 Blackfish Boated On Opening Day And Lots Of Sea Bass
November 16 – Blackfish opening day is my favorite trip of the year. We had the usual catchers for opening day Brian, Brian, Mark and Cullen out today. With buckets of green crabs we were off. Only problem is so was the fishing. These guys can really blackfish and they only boated 7 keepers along with 30 or 40 shorts. Cullen and Kevin fished with soft baits in the deeper water and did box 15 keeper sea bass, but sea bass was not what we wanted today.
36 Inch Striped Bass Boated At Barnegat Light
Fun Fall Striper Catching Day Off LBI
November 15 – Had Skip, Pat, Scott and 14 year old Max out today for some snag and drop striper fishing. Had some decent bites for an hour or so with Max putting 2 in the box and Pat put a nice 35 incher in, but lost another nice catch at boat side. I'll blame the captain for that one. Scott added another keeper and we lost 6 or 8. We all had a fun fall catching Saturday off LBI.
36 Inch Striped Bass Boated At Barnegat Light
Eric Puts A Nice Barnegat Light Striper In The Box
November 9 – Had repeat catchers Chris and 12 year old Eric out today for some striper fishing. Not many bites, but keeper ratio was very good. Five keepers and one throwback. Young Eric toughed it out. He missed a couple, while his dad was putting on a clinic. But, just before we went back to the dock he caught our largest fish of the day, at 35 inches. Way to go Eric!

We all had fun on a chilly fall catching day at Barnegat Light.
Fun Sea Bass Catching Day Off LBI
A Fun LBI Sea Bass Catching Day
October 25 - Had 12 year old Eric and his dad Chris out today for a day of sea bass fishing off of LBI. Bit breezy and bouncy at first, but the wind died out and the two fishermen went to work putting 27 keeper sea bass in the box. We had 10 to 15 feet of life under us on our last spot, with probably 150 total fish caught. Lots of fish that we had to recycle, but a real fun catching day.
Finally Back Catching Off LBI
Finally Back Catching Off LBI
October 21 - FINALLY! Between closed seasons and bad weather we are back out doing what we do best. Catching fish. Andy and Chris with help from Kevin weeded through hundreds of shorts, literally, to put a boat limit of 60 keeper sea bass, 3 big triggerfish, a porgy and 10 small bluefish in the box. We also saw a whale, a huge ocean sunfish and 3 water spouts. It’s great!
Barnegat Bay Blackfish and Trigger Fish
Barnegat Bay Trip Lands Nice Blackfish And Trigger Fish
September 28 – Had young Blake and his dad Ronnie out today for some bottom fishing. With sea bass season closed, we stayed inshore looking for blackfish and triggerfish. Fishing was slow, but we did land a number of nice blackfish and a triggerfish. The weather forecasts called for not the best conditions, but as usual the forecasts were wrong and we had a very nice catching day on Barnegat Bay.
6 Pound Barnegat Inlet Fluke Landed
Landed 5 Very Nice Keeper Fluke In Barnegat Inlet
September 21 - Well to say the weather since Labor Day has been awful from a boaters perspective is an understatement. Easterly winds, which have been pretty much non stop, have limited our days on the water. We had to cancel both trips this weekend due to the angry ocean. Kev wanted to fish the inlet on Sunday to pass the time. We were pleasantly surprised, when we landed 5 keeper fluke with Kev’s biggest close to 6 lbs. This is the last week of this years fluke season. Hope the Easterly wind stays away, so we can put a few more 6 pounders in the box.
Beautiful Evening Cruise On Barnegat Bay
Beautiful Evening On Barnegat Bay
September 12 EC – Well summer is almost over, but you couldn't tell it tonight when Suzanne, Stephen, Jamie and Joe enjoyed a beautiful evening on Barnegat bay. A very nice sunset and a smooth boat ride were all rolled into one. Old Barney made a colorful backdrop for this perfect evening cruise. Pictures say it all and the group enjoyed seeing all the different birds including pelicans throughout the bay.
LBI Bride To Be Evening Cruise
Mother Nature Puts On Show For Bride To Be Cruise
September 6 EC - This was a first for the Kev n’ Ash. Jenna set up an evening cruise for the bride to be Gina. After a beautiful day on LBI, Mother Nature put on quite a show during the cruise. The ladies made the most of us playing dodge that storm using radar, but finally we had to race home just in time to enjoy a drink in the gazebo on Barnegat Bay before the spectacular sky to ground lighting show started. Definitely a story for the girls to tell.
5 Foot LBI Hammer Head
5 Foot Hammer Head 38 Sea Bass And 2 Fluke
September 4 – Rachael and Shawn were out today for some LBI fishing. This was Rachael’s first fishing trip and she said she was going to catch a shark. Well, that's what they all say. Rachael landed 2 keeper fluke, while Shawn had a beautiful double header of large sea bass. Back to Rachael’s comment when she came aboard. Soon there was a 100 lb. class brown shark swimming up on us. So we set out a whole squid and soon the Jaws music started and the reel started to sing, Rachael was on! After a 15 min. or so fight she had a 5’ hammer head alongside. Add a catch of 38 sea bass, 2 fluke and a ling for a great catching day.
21 Keeper LBI Sea Bass
Weather Did Not Prevent A Great LBI Catching Day
September 1 – Initially the weather did not look like we would have a good catching day. After the weather cleared we headed offshore with Joe, John, Kristin and Jessie to one of our favorite sea bass grounds. Upon arrival, quickly the rods were bent and small sea bass along with keeper sea bass and some throwback fluke started coming over the rails of the Kev n’ Ash. Kristin had a nice double header of keeper sea bass and Jessie, John and Joe held their own putting 21 keeper sea bass and 1 keeper porgy in the box. What started as a questionable fishing day turned into a great catching day.
Ole Barney Evening Cruise
LBI Evening Cruise Adventure
August 30 EC – Had Greg, Stephanie, Jared and Marcy out for a two hour evening cruise off LBI. We started with pictures of Old Barney and made our way through an angry Barnegat Inlet and then up along Island Beach State Park. The wind was blowing so we headed back through Barnegat inlet, which is always an adventure at low tide and back up into the bay where red cups were enjoyed in the calm waters of Barnegat Bay
Boat Limit Of 15 LBI Sea Bass
Great Group Of Guys Fill Boat Limit Of 15 LBI Sea Bass
August 30 PM – Had Bobby, Chuck and Barry out for a short, thanks to fish cooperation, afternoon trip today. Boys went to work quickly catching sea bass and fluke, while on the anchor. Bobby landed the first fish a 17 inch fluke before I even made my way off the bow from anchoring the boat. Barry led the way with the largest sea bass and Bobby snagged a nice 20 inch fluke. Chuck added to the catch and the boys put their boat limit if 15 sea bass and 1 fluke in the box, returning back to the dock a half hour early. Great group of guys with lots of laughs.
Finally Back To Fishing Off LBI
Finally Back To Fishing In The Ocean Off LBI
August 30 AM – Had Stephanie, Paul, Gus, Gus Sr. and Erica out for a four hour bottom fishing trip. We haven't been able to fish the ocean for what felt like forever, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Well we anchored and within a minute Gus Sr. landed a keeper fluke on clam?! Then sea bass started chewing with Paul putting one close to 5 lbs. in the box. Then the fluke really started biting on clam. Crazy! Group probably landed 20 fluke with 5 making the mark to head west in the cooler with us. Final tally was 19 sea bass, 1 bluefish and 5 fluke. So nice to be back in the ocean catching.
Beautiful Fluke Fishing Day Off LBI
A Quick Trip In Barnegat Bay Nets Two Nice Fluke
August 29 – There was still a large swell offshore leftover from the storm this past week. Our fluke fishing was confined to Barnegat Bay where there are plenty of the smaller flat fish. We had Matt, Mark, Luke and Tom out today for a half-day trip near Old Barney. The boys fished hard for maybe 25 small fluke with 2 of them making keeper size caught by young Luke. Was an absolutely beautiful day off Barnegat Light. The boys really enjoyed their catching trip.
Old Barney Evening Cruise
Ole Barney Cruise With Future Captains At The Helm
August 28 EC– Had Noel and her group of 3 adults and 7 young children out for a beautiful view of Ole Barney at sunset. We made our way half way out the inlet and returned to head up the bay to the west due to the large ground swell present due to the storm way off shore. Was a beautiful cool evening with the kids seeing pelicans, cranes and ospreys. Several of the kids took over the helm and captained the Kev n’ Ash. The future Captains made it a fun cruise with 2 great families on a nice LBI evening.
Barnegat Bay Fluke Fishing
Twins Land Twin Barnegat Bay Flukes
August 27 – Had twin 6 year olds Titus and Emilia along with their parents Rael and Randle onboard today for some Barnegat Bay Fluking. Titus caught 2 double headers and the group caught around 20 throwback fluke total but no keepers. Nice Day Of Barnegat Light Fishing
Nice Day Fishing The Bay Near Barnegat Light
August 23 PM - There was a strong northeast wind off LBI today, so we decided to give the bay near Barnegat Light a try. Had Jen and her Aunt Jill and Uncle Donnie out for a quick bay catching trip. The trio caught about 25 small fluke with 2 keepers along with a very nice bluefish. Donnie led the way with his two double headers. The wind eventually calmed down and we had a very nice day fishing in the shadow of Barnegat Light.
First LBI Fishing Trip
Five Year Old Nathan’s First Fishing Trip
August 23 AM – Had 5 year old Nathan and his Dad Jeremy out today. Nathan discovered that he loved to fish, while on vacation on LBI this week. Our goal was to go out and catch something bigger and more exicting than a snapper blue. The duo managed to catch a dozen or so small fluke and a nice bluefish in a quick, but fun, two-hour Barnegat Bay trip. The picture tells the story of the fun a 5 year old was having on his first catching trip. Love seeing the next generation of kids learning and loving to fish.
LBI Charters New Captain
Proud Father Report
August 18 – This is not a charter report but a proud dad report. First Mate Kev became Capt. Kev and was given the helm for his first solo trip on the Kev n Ash. Kev along with his friends Dan, Griffin and Vince employed the skills he's learned while fishing along side of me since the age of 3. He quickly recognized a need to change things up based on the bites he was getting. He came in for bait instead of gulp and went back out anchoring versus drifting and amazingly began processing some great fish. The foursome put 16 triggerfish and 6 blowfish in the box. And so a future charter boat Captain for LBI Charters was born.
30 Croakers Put In The Box
New Hampshire Fishermen Put 30 Croakers In The Box
August 15 – Had 2 visitors from New Hampshire, Mark and Brianna out for a day of fishing on a flat calm Atlantic. We headed out to the Barnegat Light reef as reports had fluke biting. It was a slow drift and we picked 2 shorts along with a hammerhead sighting. We found quite a varity of life on some old haunts. Croakers, fluke, sea bass, small blues, brown sharks, and cow nose rays. Brianna and Mark with some help from Kevin ended up putting 30 big croakers, 1 sea bass, and 1 fluke in the box. Add in another dozen or more throwback fluke, sea bass and croakers. We ended up with a good day of catching off LBI.
Patience Pays On LBI Sea Bass Trip
Patience Pays Off With 12 Nice Sea Bass
August 1 PM - Had 14 year old Tyler and his mom Heather from Milwaukee out for a day of bottom fishing. Started off with two drifts for fluke in the ocean. No keepers. Made decision to try for sea bass. First three spots no luck. Joseph made the comment we couldn't go home with only three keepers, and I concurred. So we tried one more spot, put in some extra time and Tyler started catching keepers and shorts and Heather chipped in some big ones too. We ended with a boat limit of 12 nice sea bass thanks to the patience of the catchers.
Engagement Cruise Off LBI
Kyle Lands A Great Catch Off LBI
August 1 EC – We had a well planned engagement evening cruise. Kyle had planned the trip for months and had a raffle at the Boathouse Restaurant for the evening cruise rigged so that Sarah won. We headed out the inlet and around Old Barney. Kyle made sure that there were plenty of dolphins for them to watch feeding, just offshore. Shortly after leaving the dolphins, Kyle popped the question and I heard him say "she said yes Greg". A first aboard the Kev n Ash. A memorable event for LBI Charters and thanks Kyle and Sarah for letting us be part of it.
Beautiful LBI Sunset Sea Bass Trip
Beautiful Sunset And 12 Sea Bass In The Box
July 30 PM - Had Ed and Cheryl out for a relaxing sea bass trip. The trip began very slow with very picky bites. To makeup for the slow fishing the weather and the evening sunset was spectacular. LBI Shark Fishing
Epic Trip For LBI Shark Week
July 30 AM - Had Vince, Greg, Kevin out for some bottom fishing. Beautiful day with two big sunfish and a hammerhead swimming around us at one spot. Then all hell broke loose. Trip of a lifetime with sharks all around us and 3 on at one time. Oh, we limited out with 18 sea bass and 20 ling. Epic trip.

I caught a 10 plus lb. blackfish and Bill had one around 6 lbs that were released along with another 3 or 4 keeper blackfish.

Calm Productive LBI Fishing Trip
58 Fish Bagged On Flat Calm Barnegat Light Trip
June 23 - Headed out from Barnegat Light with former coworker Doug, his dad Jay, Rich and Brian for a day of wreck fishing. It was flat calm and hot to start the day with steady action of sea bass shorts mixed with keepers and a sprinkling of ling. After a couple non-productive moves we headed back to our original area and had another shot of fish. A quick stop on the way home landed some more fish for the box. Final tally was a respectable 42 sea bass, 11 ling, 2 porgies and 3 triggerfish. A fun day off LBI.
Nice Barnegat Light Catching Trip
Nice Day, Nice People, Nice Catching Trip
June 22 - Had repeat clients Sandy, Dan and new comers Corey and Judy out today for some wreck fishing off Barnegat Light. Fun LBI Shark Fishing Day
Fun Day Shark Fishing Off LBI
June 16 - During our Fathers Day charter we had a thresher shark in the 200 lb range swim up on us. So today Kev and I decided to go shark fishing. While we anchored up catching our limit of sea bass we set 2 lines out with balloons and chumed for sharks. In no time we had a thresher in the 200 lb range free jump within a hundred feet of the boat. We figured he could not turn down our chum slick and fresh bunkers. Fifteen minutes later a rod went off and Kev with a big grin on his face thought he had him. After about 10 minutes he brought a 40 to 50 lb brown shark boat side for a few pictures and release.
12 Pound LBI Blackfish Caught
Fathers Day Trip Hooks A 12 LB. Blackfish
June 15 - Had John, Corey, John, and Steve out for some bottom fishing off Barnegat Light. We were greeted with a stiff 20 plus knot northwest wind to start so had to stay close by. Guys toughed it out catching an array of fish including 3 big porgies a triggerfish a few keeper sea bass along with a bunch of out of season blackfish, including 2 by JR that went about 12 lbs. and 8 lbs. Beautiful fish of a lifetime. Finally the wind machine shut off and around 11 we headed to the deep and had a slow pick of sea bass and ling. After a long day of fishing we boxed 22 keeper sea bass, 10 ling, 3 porgies and a triggerfish.
Winning LBI Sea Bass Trip
Winner Of Charity Sea Bass Trip Wins Again
June 8 - Had Ray and Brian out for a half day sea bass trip. Ray won the trip at a charity event last year and after numerous reschedules due to bad weather we finally got a nice day to get out. And what a beautiful day it was off of LBI. Flat calm, sunny and the fish cooperated. Drop and reel fishing, with many shorts and enough keepers to make it interesting. Final tally was 22 sea bass and a ling and back at the dock by 11:30. A really fun day with fellow Woolwich Township residents.

The monkey fell out of the tree when I caught a monster 5 lb. inshore sea bass. This fish currently leads the Beach n Boat fishing tournament (I won this tournament last year). If you check their website you will see this fish is the leader and Vince Russo has the next 4 fish that have been weighed in. Vince fished with us on opening day and as I recommended he entered the tournament. For 20 bucks, before you come out with us you should enter the tournament!
Successful LBI Wreck Fishing Day
55 Keepers For A Successful Wreck Fishing Day
May 25 - Had Chris, Andy, Steve, and Jack (aka Saltman) out today for some wreck fishing. Started the day in thick fog and had a nice pick on our first wreck, including some great fish caught by Chris on a jig. Next couple spots had a handful of really nice fish on them. Then wind came on into the tide and we had a rough time, picked up some more keepers on the final 3 spots. Caught some nice blackfish and a number of endangered dogfish. Guys ended up putting 55 keepers in the box for a successful catching day on the LBI wrecks.
Barnegat Light Sea Bass Trip Puts 60 In The Box
Perfect Conditions And Great Fishermen Box 60 Fish By 10AM
May 20 – Conditions were the same today as the season opener yesterday. The wind started off breezy from the west and then dropped off to nothing. The only difference today is that repeat anglers Andy and Chris unbelievably boxed their 60 fish sea bass limit by 10 am. Throw in a single codfish and a couple hours playing catch and release with blackfish and we are 2 for 2 for catching in 2014.
LBI Sea Bass Trip Puts 60 In The Box
Opening Day Of Sea Bass Season Puts 60 In The Box
May 19 - Had Vince and Steve out today for opening day of 2014 sea bass season. With a little help from First Mate Kevin, Vince and Steve went on to box a boat limit of 60 sea bass, with Vince's 4.5 pounder leading the way. This was not a drop and reel fishing trip, you had to fish. The size of all the fish was very good. Had 6 to 8 blackfish up to 6 lbs. that would have been keepers, but they were released unharmed. Also had 1 codfish and a boston mackerel (haven't seen one of those off LBI in 15 years).
LBI Blackfish Are Back
2014 Blackfish Are Back
April 18 - Just finished all of the spring maintenance work on the Kev n' Ash. Kev and I grabbed a few clams and headed out, staying close to home. Not expecting a bite I sat inside telling Kev he would not catch anything. Five minutes in, bang a keeper. Next drop, bang another keeper. So I rig up. While rigging, Kev caught a throwback. I got in the water, bang a keeper. Couple more bites and our clams where gone. It was a good start and I am wondering what it could have been if I kept going to deeper water. The blackfish are here...... it's time to go fishing before the season closes on April 30th.
LBI Blackfish Fishing Trip

Barnegat Light Charter In Thick Fog Put 43 Sea Bass In The Box
November 17 - Had repeat catchers Andy, Chris and newcomer Jack out today for whatever we could get to bite. Started off striper fishing and caught one short and saw others swirling on top. Next tried blackfishing caught one keeper and a few throwbacks. Made decision to head offshore and see if we could find some late season sea bass and they saved the day. No shortage of bites and ended with 43 keepers on both clams and jigs. Countless throwbacks. Amazing the number of sea bass around for mid November! Had a fun time in the thick fog off of Barnegat Light with these guys.
Barnegat Light Striper Trip
The Fish Are Back, Lets Go Catching
November 7 - Fished for fun today with Kev, Alex and Austin. We fished for a little bit of this and that. Started jigging and caught a handful of large bluefish and Kev landed a really nice 15 lb. striper. From there we headed out for some wreck fishing. Plenty of life on most spots, but had some small ones to weed through. Ended the day with 35 keeper sea bass, 1 big porgy, our limit of 4 keeper blackfish, 6 bluefish and the nice striper. Fall is here and finally it is time to go catching
LBI Fluke Trip Visited By Shark
Surviving Catchers Box 6 Fluke And Are Visited By A 6 ft Shark
September 8 – We began today with a group of 5. Megan, Allie, Adam, Steve and Don for a day of fluking. Started off local and had some short action and 3 keepers, however the Kev n' Ash got bounced around a lot and we had a couple of catchers fall ill to the sea. So we dropped off 3 and headed back out with Steve and Don and fought the swell heading down to where we fished yesterday. Ocean finally flattened out and we headed in with 6 keepers. Don led the way with a 22 incher. Just before leaving we had a 6 or 7 foot hammerhead shark pay us a visit on one of our drifts. Hope to see all 5 of the group get out next year!
Barnegat Light Fluke Catching Trip
Watched Pods Of Dolphins And Put 10 Fluke In The Box
September 7 - Had Helene and Jim out today for some fluking. As we broke the inlet there were pods of dolphins riding another boats bow wake. Headed down the beach where Jim started catching quickly, including a nice 21 incher around 4 lbs. Then Ash started processing and before long Helene got the hang of it and started catching short and keeper fluke. Then even I caught a nice one around 5 lbs. Before we headed in Ash had her limit and we had 10 nice fish in the box. What a beautiful ocean today with very nice people!
A LBI Labor Day Fishing Trip With Kids
Labor Day Trip With Kids That Know Fishing
September 2 - The wind finally stopped blowing off LBI on Labor Day so we headed out to the ocean for some fluking with Theo, Marcus, Michele and Chris. The water was a bit chilled from the prior 2 days of southwest wind, but the fluke were still chewing. Marcus and Theo, we were informed, love to fish and it was amazing to see the knowledge these kids had of fishing. I would estimate we caught around 30 fish with some sea bass, sea robins and skates mixed in for plenty of action. Two fluke made it to the box including the one in the picture that Theo landed. Fun way to spend Labor Day with a very nice family!
A Fun Barnegat Light Birthday Fishing Trip
A Fun Birthday Catching Trip
August 31 - Despite an angry ocean limiting our trip to the inlet and just outside in the ocean, Ben, John, Carl, Graham, Brad, and his father made their 2nd trip with us for 2013. The boys kept busy catching throwback fluke, blackfish, sea bass, and porgies, but managed to put 4 big blowfish, a nice blackfish, and 1 triggerfish in the box. The trip was to celebrate Ben's 9th birthday and if it were up to the 3 young boys, we would still be out there despite the weather!

Also kept 3 small bluefish and caught a handful of small croakers. About 2 hours into our trip the fish just shut off on us, but the guys enjoyed the hundreds of dolphins who put on a spectacular SeaWorld like diving show right next to us. Weather could not have been nicer.
Beautiful LBI Fishing Trip
Lots Of Fishing And Catching, But No Keeping
August 11 - Had Rob, Joe, Alexander, Jake, and Brendan out today to try some fluke fishing. Well, we report the good with the bad and for the first time in 2013 we had the bad. Took a ride on a beautiful day off LBI. We caught plenty of throwback weakfish, fluke, and skates. We moved to a small snag and got a couple of small sea bass, but still no fluke. Then we tried the reef and still nothing but throwbacks. Then we finally explored the inlet and caught a handful of throwback fluke, one bluefish and some sea robins. This was a group of great guys who were fun to be fishing with, but a box full of keepers was just not meant to be.

LBI Charter Sea Bass Trip Puts 34 In The Box
Nice Wedding Anniversary Trip For Nice Couple
July 27 - Had a beautiful day on the water today with a very nice couple who were celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary with a trip on the Kev n’ Ash. In my opinion this is the best anniversary present that can be given, but I'm biased. We fished on 3 spots all loaded with smaller fish. We had to weed through all of the throwbacks, to put 34 keeper sea bass and a single bluefish in the box. Stacy and Ron are a very nice couple who had a nice day celebrating with a fun fishing trip.
Successful LBI Trip Lands 55 Sea Bass

So offshore we went. Fished 3 spots, all had plenty of life with the last spot having lots of keeper fish that we left biting. Ended the day with 55 keeper sea bass, 15 ling, 1 nice fluke and even a keeper pollock. This second trip was the charm for Vince who lost a huge sea bass on Tuesday, but led the way today with a super sea bass that weighed in at just over 4.5 pounds. This was an awesome trip with a bunch of hard working guys.
Barnegat Bay Sunset Cruise Beautiful
Great Evening, Sunset And Family
July 19 EC - Had Jill and her 2 daughters out for a sunset cruise tonight. Was a beautiful night on the water with a very nice sunset. The group got to enjoy a nice cool breeze on the ocean and was treated to a little roller coaster ride from the strong southwest wind when we cleared Barnegat Inlet. The girls took turns at the helm playing captain, while we were in the back bay, as the sun set over the mainland. Beautiful evening with a great family!
44 LBI Keeper Sea Bass In Box
Nice Breeze Nice Fish Nice People
July 18 - Today we went out in search of bottom dwellers off LBI. We had a nice breeze most of the day and despite tough anchoring conditions once again, we did what we had to do to put together a decent catch. Had Danielle, Dan, Ian and Doug out for the trip and we picked a few on each spot and ended up with a better pick on last 2 spots to end the day with 50 keepers consisting of 44 sea bass, 5 ling and 1 blackfish. Nice 7 Pound Barnegat Light Blackfish
A Fun Trip With 28 Sea Bass In The Box

Vince had a nice 7 lb. blackfish, which we had to let go. We will be back for it starting Wednesday, when the 2013 regulations begin allowing 1 keeper blackfish per person. The boys really had fun and Louis kept everyone totally entertained as usual.

A 3.5 Pound Sea Bass Takes The Prize
July 15 AM - Had Jeff and 3 boys J.J., Jake, and Keenan out today for some local bottom fishing. Boys wanted to do a quick trip so we stayed close to home. They boated an array of fish with a final total of 35, of which 4 sea bass and 5 porgies were keepers. Two of the porgies weighed in at 3 lbs. Jake took largest fish honors with a 3.5 lb. sea bass. Jeff had a big one that unfortunately got away. I estimate he had a 10 plus pound blackfish that won the battle diving down into a wreck hole. We spent 15 minutes unsuccessfully trying to get him out. Another beautiful LBI fishing day, with an awesome group of young fisherman.

June 20 - Had another repeat customer Andy and his godson Matt (aka Anthony) out for a day of sea bass fishing. Our first 2 spots had plenty of fish, but we had to pick through the shorts. Last spot had a much better keeper ratio. Looked like we were headed for another boat limit, but fell just 7 short when the wind came on into the tide making it tough to sit still on the wreck. So ended with 73 keeper sea bass and 1 ling on beautiful day off LBI.

New Fishermen Put Some Very Nice Sea Bass In The Box
June 15 - Had seasoned fishermen Brad and his 9 year old son Ben along with new fishermen Stacey and Bob and their 2 kids Joey and Izzy out for a quick, but productive, 3.5 hour sea bass trip. The kids had fun battling the wind and tide to land 36 keeper sea bass in no time, with multiple double headers. Ben did battle with 3 large sand sharks, which made him shark boy by the end of the trip. A flat calm ocean and the new fishermen did well putting some very nice sea bass in the box.

100 Fish In The Box

2013 12 Year Old Big Hitter On Successful Trip
May 17 - Had Brian, Mark, Brian and 12-year-old Cullen out for some blackfishing off of LBI today. We were greeted with a beautiful ocean. We got off to a slow start with mostly small fish. Cullen led the way with 8 keepers including the 2 largest. Funny I know some other kids that outfish their dad. Fun trip with good group of guys.
